Meeting Minutes


Vice President Kyle Beckler called the meeting to order at 7pm at the Prairie Lanes Café

 Treasurer’s Report

Current balance $9,515.87
2018-19 paid memberships: 11 members, 2 business associate members

Old Business

482nd Trail from Hwy 14 to White: Drifters will be taking over this stretch of trail, will be keeping the signs from the Valley Rough Riders and may need a few more; Roger DeBates, Jeremy Scott, and Dave Miller will help with this trail (Michael Scott also plans to come back and help for 2018)

Walt and Jerry attended the May meeting in Pierre

49th Annual Convention will be at the Ramkota in Sioux Falls Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 2018; additional information should be available at http://www.sfsnotrackers.com/

New business

Trail signs- Walt ordered signs from the state for those that requested this summer (stop/stay on shoulder/400-500 new blazers); discussion of placing some ‘trail maintained by’ signs at Western & 8th St. S as well as the 4-way intersection at Main Ave. & 32nd St. S; club already has 2 signs that would work for this, consider ordering more from state next year to place at other locations

Storage buildout- potential date of Nov. 3rd or 4th, will set a date at the October meeting to prepare the storage area and also make more signs; should have 2-3 boxes of sickle blades on hand, Tabi and Roger T. (m/s) to purchase 1 bundle of 1/2" rebar (cut in 90 sticks, Walt will order) and 1/4" nuts and bolts (Kyle B.) for making signs

Hobo Day parade- Aaron will do the registration; float will use groomer and drag with Kyle B's vintage sled on top (Walt or one of the other groomers will drive) and use crazy coolers with some Dakota Drifters signs; decoration and club meeting will be at Walt's on Oct. 10th

2019 Charity Ride- discussion on Sleep in Heavenly Peace as potential charity and club participating in a construction day

Power sports swap meet/rummage sale- discussion on same day or shortly after Hay Days; do small group for 2018 on Sept. 22nd at Wika's, bring own table and $10 donation

Groomer school- Darrin would like to attend, any others?


- SDSA 50/50 raffle tickets are for sale, $2/ticket ($1/ticket sold stays with club), $1,000 grand prize

- SDSA Raffle tickets available for sale, $50/ticket, 2018 Can-Am Defender grand prize, $1,000 to club selling winning ticket

- Starting Sept. 14th Prairie Lanes will be hosting a Jumping Jacks Improv Night every 3rd Friday
